A new timelapse video shows progress on the Port of Tacoma’s Maritime Center along the Foss Waterway. The project includes two new buildings, a Port business office and Tacoma Public Schools’ Maritime|253 skills center.

The timelapse shows construction since the groundbreaking in January 2025. In the angle where both buildings are visible, the Port’s is on the left and the school district’s is on the right.

The 20-acre Maritime Center site features sustainable features including solar panels and a restored shoreline with public access. The Port’s business center will open in Spring 2027. Maritime|253 opens in September, providing career and technical education to high school juniors and seniors from across the South Sound. Learn more about Maritime|253 and enroll.
